Back to School!
Well it is that time of year again.

EV,Sharon, Savannah, Sydnee and Sierra. They wanted to dress alike on the first day of school.

They were so excited for school to start they had their lunches made on Sunday and their clothes laid out and their bags packed on Monday night, and complained all day Tuesday that they had to wait till Wednesday to actually go to school.

Savannah is in sixth grade this year and her last year in elementary school. Sydnee is in fourth grade and Sierra is in kindergarten. Sierra is taking virtual school so that she can stay at Brandy's till she is in first grade next year. With Estella's traveling and my working in Topeka it would not be good to try to have her in kindergarten for half a day.

Then come all the extras. Savannah and Sydnee decided to try out for the local youth swim team, the Aqua Hawks. Savannah who is not usually too excited about sports, was again beyond excited about joining the swim team. Sydnee was excited about it, but was hoping that she could do soccer with Sharren. Savannah has also decided to join the orchastra at school, she is going to play the violin. Life just get more and more busy.

Rough Week

Well we had a bit of a rough week this last week. On Friday Sierra wanted to go to the park and have a picnic and then fly her kite. She got up and put her kite in the trunk of my car and then every fifteen minutes she would ask me if it was time to go. When we got to the park the wind had picked up and was way too windy to fly a kite or have a picnic. She was very unhappy about that.

Then on Saturday we went to the Sawyers for a BBQ to celebrate Grandma and Grandpa Sawyers anniversary. While we were there the kids decided to play baseball. Savannah was watching one of her little cousins bat and got a little to close to him when he swung. He got her right on the elbow. Well four hours later and a trip to the ER nothing luckily was broken, just very sore and she had to wear a sling for a few days.

Sydnee is the only one who did not have a rough week, at least that we are aware of. She has been her usual happy go lucky self.

We bought the girls a basketball and a a free standing rim, that is in the coldasack. Ever since we did we have had all the neighborhood kids over most every evening. This girls have been loving it. The the weather got cold again, it had been in the 70s and lower 80s and this last week 50s and 60s. So it has been to cold to go out and play basketball.

Next week should be better for everyone at least it is starting out better. The girls are at a dance recital right now for a couple of their friends. The weather is looking like it will not be so cool and rainy also. Also added a couple of pictures for you.

Hope all is good with you were ever you may be.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIERRA

Today is Sierra's birthday, she made it to 5. Yes there were times that I really questioned weather she would or not. She has no fear and is quite crazy, stubborn and hard headed. She will do the craziest stuff and when you get after her for doing them she will just wait till no one is watching and do it again. Had stitches sever times, broken her arm from dancing on a little flimsy Dora table, bitten a hole in her lip not just once but twice, and she still just keeps going. But she is also a very sweet girl and we love her.

Life around here has been pretty crazy. Estella traveled to Pennsylvania last week for what was only supposed to be 3 days, but ended up being the entire week. She was scheduled to fly home on Thursday evening, that is when most of the east was under a snow storm and she only made it as far as Chicago before getting snowed in. She then spent the next day in Chicago and made it home Thursday morning. Then she flew out Sunday morning to go to Florida and she should be home tomorrow evening. At least the weather is nicer this time.

Most of you may have heard that my car was stolen earlier this month. The insurance company decided to fix it. It is still in the shop and it is not looking like we will get it back any time soon, might be another month or so. The repair shop keeps telling us that it is mostly fixed they are just waiting on some items to come in. I know that is probably the case but it is just rough making sure every one gets where they need to be when you only have one vehicle. We will probably going to have to borrow a car from some one for a while.

Savannah and Sidney are doing good they are enjoying school and doing good in it. Savannah had her school music program this week and it was interesting. They did music similar to the group Stomp, which if you are not familiar with them you can look at some video clips by following the link. They used items that can be found around any classroom to make the music, I will post a video clip or two here when I get them ready.

Well we hope everything is going good for all of you where ever you are.

The latest from Kansas
OK so my sister started doing some BLOGing,if you haven't you should take a look. She is posting about her adventures in this adoption she is and has been working on, and apparently chastising me for not updating here as often as I should. For those that don't know it started out she was going to adopt Mahider from Ethiopia. Now it has grown to her adopting Mahider and her three sisters and one brother. The McCollum clan will almost double the number of grandchildren over night. The last time I spoke with Daniel Bodily he mentioned that he and his wife might be adopting, I need to give him a call and see how that is going or went.

The girls are both doing very well in school. Savannah is in 5th grade and received all A's and one B. She loves school and learning. She tells us that her favorite subjects are math and science, but she really loves to tell and write stories. Not too long ago I stumbled upon a programming environment that is designed for high school aged kids, mostly girls. I played with it a little and decided that Savannah and Sydnee should be able to handle it. It is free for anyone who is interested. It allows you to create a 3-D story and play it like a movie. So check back for stories from Savannah and Sydnee to be posted here soon. The software is called Alice and is free if you follow the link you can find out all about it. It is pretty simple to use and has some great tutorials.

As for Sierra, she is as crazy as ever. She has told us on several different occasions that she is "The Queen of Madness", and I believe it. There is never a dull moment around our house. Sometimes when she is in trouble and Estella and I are getting after her she will say something so funny and off the wall that you can't help but laugh. Let me just tell you it is hard to punish you children when you are laughing, either you are laughing too hard or they won't take you seriously. Oh the teenage years with her are going to be rough!

Well all that is it for this update. Hope you are all doing well.

Kansas Update
I added a couple more pictures to the gallery. They are just a few random events when I was smart enough to not have a camera with me. There are some of the girls getting their faces painted at Walmart, and then of Savannah at a T-Bones baseball game. Savannah won some tickets to a baseball game. It was allot of fun, she really enjoyed it.

School is going again and the girls are doing good. Savannah is in fifth grade and Sydnee is in third. They are still doing allot of construction on both the elementary and junior high schools. Sydnee's class is in a mig-shift class that has been set up until their new classroom is finished. They are telling us that it should be finished in the next month. They are also demolishing the old junior high. So that has been an interesting part of our lives.

Savannah and Sydnee had been going to boys and girls club after school. This has had its pros and cons. The cons were starting to out weigh the pros. Now the girls are walking home with a couple of girls from the ward that go to the junior high. They have more time to get their homework done and a few chores also. It seems to be going better.

Well Estella has once again proved to be too good at what she does at work and so they had to move her again. She is now down in the book store and they are still trying to decide what her new position will be. If she keeps going like this she will eventually just take over the whole thing.

Well I will try to get some better quality pictures up here as soon as I can. Hope everything is going well for you where ever you are.

Grandma and Grandpa's Visit
Well Grandma and Grandpa just left to head back to Utah. They have been out here since last Wednesday. They came out for Sydnee's Baptisim which was on Saturday. We had a really good time while they where out here. Jordon came along with them and the girls had fun running aroung together. We will have some pictures up here of the visit in the next couple of days.

The Girls are getting excited for school to start and we are wondering if the school will be finished. They started remodling the school about a year ago and they were supposed to be done by now. So now we are like three weeks from the start of school and they are going 24/7 it seems. When I went past at 5:30 am today they were there going full blast on it.

OK so I am at work right now. and there was an alarm and the building was evacuated, all fine and dandy right. Well I am on the 12th floor, and it is about 97 degrees outside and the humidity is about 60%. So walking down was fine and not too bad. Then we stand outside for about 20 minutes and went we start back in the elevators are giving them problems. So I say I will take the stairs, no biggie. The stairwells are sealed and have no a/c, so by the time i made it to the 12th floor I might as well have jumped into a swimming pool I was that wet. You gotto love Kansas humidity.

So any way the following is something I got from off the coke website.

Yet another visit to the ER
Last Tuesday Estella and I had the privilege of spending several hours in the emergency room. Oh how I love the ER. Sierra was dancing on a little Dora the Explorer table that is in the toy room. It went one way and she went the other. When she fell she bit through her skin just below her lip. They did not sow it they just put some Dura-Bond, medical super glue, on it and held it together. The whole process took about five maybe ten minutes from the time the doctor looked at it till we where walking out the door. The problem was we got to the hospital at about 6:15, 6:30ish and it was not until 9:30ish that the doctor came in to look at her. Oh how I do love the ER.

Anyway she is all better. she was doing better about 5 minutes after we got to the ER. She was laughing and being silly. Heaven help us with her if we ever loose our insurance. There is a couple pictures of her in the ER in the gallery.

Savannah and Sydnee are doing great. They are loving the warmer weather and are almost always outside till dark. School is going good they have both been going on field trips to various places. During spring break Savannah spent a couple of days with her dad at work, there is a picture of her in the gallery. She really enjoyed it and impressed a lot of people with how good she was the whole time. She played on the laptop and read books. She also walked the stairs with her dad, 12 floors up, twice a day.

Well hope everything is good with everyone.

The Girl's New Van
Well we did it, we got Estella a new van. We had a Plymouth Voyager and had a lot of problems with it. We had it for about 8 years, and in that time we had to replace the A/C TWICE, the transmission and several other costly parts, also did not have rear a/c. The a/c was going to need to be replaced again this year and there was a short somewhere in the electrical system. Estella go stuck several times needing to have it jump started, and the dash, radio, and one tail light would not come on anymore. So now she has a 2004 KIA Sadona, that still has a fatory warranty. It is quite nicely loaded also. rear a/c, leather seats, DVD player, sunroof  and more. It is red, and we got a great deal on it, with less then 45000 miles and they gave us a good amount for the old van. There are pictures from the dealerships website here.

Happy Valentines Day

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SIERRA
and
Happy Valentines Day to everyone else

Sierra was born four years ago and has brought a smile to everyone she meets. She is always trying to make those around her smile, and she is pretty good at it also. She is very excited about her birthday and loves to see all the hearts in the stores because she knows they mean her birthday is coming.

Savannah and Sydnee are doing great in school. The science fair is coming up and they are both doing projects for the science fair. We will put pictures of their projects when they are finished with them.

All three girls are doing really good in gymnastics and progressing in their skills there. They have yet to complain about going and get upset when it is canceled for weather or other things that come up.

We would just like to say congratulations to David and his wife for their new addition, and hope David all the best in his recovery

Hollidays Are Over!!

Morning All,

Yesterday Estella and I had to speak in sacrament, it went well. As usual Estella gave a great talk and i managed to muddle through mine. The girls sat with Emily and were really good. The girls are doing well no major injuries to report. The science fair is coming up and Savannah is really excited, she loves science. She is having trouble deciding what to do for a project she has so many things that she wants to do.

Sydnee made a salt-dough porcupine for a class project. It is for the 100th day of school so it has 100 quills. She has lost several teeth and has one that is hanging by a thread but she will not let anyone pull it. We were watching her eat last night and we could tell it was bothering her because she did everything she could to not bite with it. I have a feeling she will need braces, ouch.

Sierra is just as crazy as ever. She is always good for a laugh, with the things she says or does.

Hope all is well where you are...

NEW YEAR and NEW PICTURES!!!

Okay, so not to your surprise, I never got around to sending out Christmas or new year cards!   It is now almost two weeks into the new year and all I am going to do is place a new blog message and not even really send you an email to tell you it is here....  Just think, it will be a pleasant surprise when you do wander upon the site to see if we are still alive here in Kansas!!!  I have added new pictures to the website under the Kansas Girls category.  The section is labeled Fall 2006, a little late I know.

We hope that you all had a wonderful holiday break, or chaos whichever the case may be and have welcomed in the new year whether you wanted to or not!  I hope to keep in touch more and update this site more, but don't hold your breathe...

Savannah is about half-way through 4th grade and it dawned on me that we only have two more years after this before she is in Junior High....  I am not ready for that.  She is such a great helper, so loving, and actually wants me to hang out with her....  I am not ready for that to be over.

Sydnee has been counting down the days until Gymnastics starts again after the winter break...  We were not sure if she was going to be able to make.  She and Savannah both moved up to the Intermediate level class this semester.  Sydnee is a little monkey and just loves it!

Sierra will be 4 next month and seems to think that she is still the Queen of the house.  I have tried to pull rank several times and somehow she still manages to one up me...  She is going to be a great negotiator or dictator someday, we still are not sure which.

That is about all that matters around here, the little girl's update.  We know that none of you really keep in touch to see what Charley and I are doing, so we will spare you that.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

The Holidays Start off good

Happy Holidays

It was looking like a great start to the Holiday season. We spent Thanksgiving at home just hanging out. It was warm enough that the girls were out side a good part of the day and Estella, Emily and I put puzzles together, It was great.

Then Saturday evening thing went south. Sierra, Our three year old, decided she needed to jump on the bed while her sisters were trying to go to sleep. Well the song goes one little monkey jumping on the bed one fell off and bumped her head, momma called the doctor and the doctor said it looks like she might have broken her arm. So now she has a bright purple cast on, and seems to be feeling a bit better. My guess is she will be back jumping on the bed with in a few weeks.

Well hope everyone had a good thanksgiving. Check back for more updates on Sierra's arm

It is Jacob McCollum, born at 4:04 am 5 Sept 2006, 7.6 pounds 19 inches. Looks healthy and, lucky for him, nothing like Justin so he is pretty cute. Gratz Bro!

Little Girl's Spa Night

Saturday the 29th of July we had a little girl's spa night.  Mommy bought them an American Girls Spa kit from Bath and Body Works and we had a blast.  We put their hair up in rag curlers.  We did manicures and pedicures.  Finally we ended with the Purple face masks.  They had a blast and looked adorable!  We took pictures to share with you all since it was just too cute!  The are under the Photo Gallery under the Catergory labeled "The Girls."  We hope you are all enduring the heat and having a fun summer.  Savannah and Sydnee are hoping to see a blog from Jordyn sometime soon!
